Project Title: Dodge 360 roots style blower intake.

Portfolio Preparation, Ivy Tech Community Collage.

Project progress report: I have currently modeled just about all the parts for this project. There are still a few items to be modeled before I can complete the final assembly of this model.
  • My accomplishments so far have been to measure the motor and intake gaskets to get the information needed to model the parts for this project.
  • I still need to measure for the base of the intake and model it.
  • I will need to finish measuring for the base and assemble the modeled parts and make the drawings from the modeled parts.
Accomplishment of objectives: So far I have met my objective for this project the intake gaskets have been purchased and measured. The location for the blower has been established in relation to the crank pulley.
One objective that has been hard to achieve has been getting the alignment right for the crank pulley to the blower pulley.
The easiest objective to achieve so far has been to measure for the intake flanges and modeling these parts.
Project Methods, Activities & Resources: I have made some hand drawn sketches for the blower base and intake flanges from witch these parts where modeled. As far as resources the book I listed in the last entry is what my design was based on which was How to Build Max-Performance Buick Engines by Jefferson Bryant. The software I have used is Solidworks. Where I’m employed at Boston scientific within the Equipment Engineering Group I have access to two of the best Designers I know so they have been a great resource for information.
Project timeline: So far this project is on schedule I have managed to stay with my timeline. If I can stay with my current schedule I should finish on schedule.
Lessons learned so far: This has been a great project since I have been machining parts mostly in the Medical industries for over 21 years now it is a great filling to see my skills really starting to come together.
Sources: The support that I have received so far has mostly been from the guys at work and from the book that I mentioned earlier.
